He is the son of Cuban exiles who sought and found freedom in the US. Dr. Pocurull arrived in College Station with his wife and son in the fall of 2002 from Houston. He comes from a long line of medical professionals. At the turn of the 20th Century, the Hospital de la Caridad in Sagua, Cuba, was renamed in honor of Dr. Ricardo Pocurull y Oña, his great-great-grandfather.
